Position Overview:

The 4-6 month Temporary Commercial Finance Analyst is responsible to support the company’s Commercial (Sales & Marketing) Finance functions to ensure an integrated approach to efficient budgeting, forecasting, analytics and reporting. This role will provide in-depth business insights to drive profitable market share growth and brand go-to-market strategies. We are open to candidates based fully remote or out of our Larkspur, CA office.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Commercial team to ensure Net Sales, Total Trade Promotions, and Marketing investments are planned/forecasted properly to facilitate timely and accurate estimations.
  • Provide analysis and results to post-event investments to understand (actual vs. expectation) and improve effectiveness and efficiency measures such as Total Trade & Marketing Spending as % of Gross Sales, Profitability ROI% and/or cost per incremental unit measures (CPIU), Sales Efficiency and Gross Profit ROI.
  • Measure Performance against Annual Target and individual Objectives. Provide support in the development of the Company’s net sales and gross margin targets through ownership in the Net Sales planning and forecasting process. Provide Sales reporting with results & analysis into key DSMP drivers and recommend course-correcting action plans. Develop customer profitability analysis. Achieve accuracy targets within monthly consensus forecast at the SKU level to inform the operational short-term (Demand Consensus) and long-term plan (AOP and LRP).
  • Drive the data integrity within the Trade Promotion Management system (AR7) by ensuring the Sales team promotional plans are updated and loaded accurately into the tool. Utilizing the system to validate promotional planning, execute monthly promo accruals, improve deduction clearing turnaround, and inform Sales revenue and Trade spending forecast.  
  • Liaison between Sales, Brokers and Internal Deductions team to ensure timely deductions clearing within the identified tolerances and execution against deduction clearing requirements. Facilitate the Broker set up to utilize Trade Promotion Management system (AR7) for planning and deduction process.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Management
  • 3+ years’ experience in Financial Analysis or Business Analysis (CPG industry Preferred)
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to examine data, formulate financial conclusions and influence decision making
  • Strong knowledge of financial analysis processes, tools, reporting and technology systems
  • Good knowledge and understanding of trade promotions and utilizing of trade management system
  • Experience with using syndicated consumer data
  • Experienced/knowledgeable in supporting a Sales & Marketing organizations / CPG company
  • Power user of Microsoft Excel and proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels within in the organization both verbally and in writing
  • Take ownership and responsibility for actions, behaviors and contributions
