Position Overview:
The Warehouse Supervisor (swing shift) position contributes to the success of the warehouse and manufacturing location for Mezzetta LLC.  The warehouse supervisor coordinates the receiving, shipping, and material handling responsibilities in the warehouse by designing and developing product movement and storage systems, improving operations, and supporting the front-line staff.  Responsibilities include cost efficiency, continuous improvement on processes, service and safety for an entire business unit across all shifts. Bilingual - English/Spanish highly preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.  Ensure all material handlers are OSHA certified
  • Maintain quality standards of finished product
  • Ensures smooth delivery of product for the sales organization
  • Achieves operational objectives by contributing warehouse operations information and recommendations to strategic plans
  • Reviews and prepares any action plans while ensuring productivity, quality and customer service standards are met
  • Meets financial objectives by contributing to the development of the budget, aware of expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions
  • Builds people capability through effective employee relations, hiring, training, and communication for front-line hourly and administration staff.   
  • Approve direct report’s vacations and timesheets using timeclock software, ensuring compliance with CA wage and hour laws and regulations
  • Develops team to solve day to day operational issues and reach short- term and long-term performance goals
  • Delivers effective change leadership while driving business changes and minimize people impact
  • Communicates and collaborates cross-functionally to assist team to solve operational issues
  • Motivates team members to achieve plan goals
  • Develops warehouse operation systems by determining product handling and storage requirements
  • Develops processes for receiving product, equipment utilization, inventory management, gate management (check in/out), and shipping
  • Supports and helps manage an accurate Cycle Count process on a regular schedule.  Participates and leads full physical inventory process on a yearly basis.
  • Develop/train employees in the utilization of WMS and troubleshoot user issues as the resident WMS expert
  • Develops and implements warehouse operations system improvements by leading continuous improvement projects as assigned and by analyzing process workflow, manning and space requirements and equipment layout
  • Troubleshoot all receiving and shipping complaints to find root cause, help resolve the issue and prevent reoccurrence
  • Administer policy and procedures including regular performance conversations with the team and complete formal written performance reviews as required
  • This role requires regular presence on the plant floor
  • It is company policy that all personnel able to affect product quality, safety and/or legality are competent and trained to ensure they can effectively carry out their role. Responsibilities and authorities of all personnel are communicated to them via induction and role training.

Qualifications: 

  • 2-4 years supervisory or management experience.
  • 3-5 years of operations/logistics or supply chain experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management systems
  • Experience with MS Office suite
  • Experience with continuous improvement
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
  • Ability to lead a team-based approach to decision making
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a results-oriented, challenging environment
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to get results through mentoring others
  • Effective coaching, facilitation, presentation and team building skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills

Preferred:

  • Previous experience working with a ERP/WMS system
  • Bilingual - English/Spanish
  • Forklift certification a plus

Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing work environment – must be able to work in a range of temperatures and humidity (heat and cold)
  • Ability to work around heavy equipment and product machinery
  • Some lifting and moving product and or equipment (50lbs)
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed including off shifts and weekends
  • Function in environment that requires bending, stooping, standing, lifting, and climbing stairs.
