Who We Are:
The Materialize team includes engineers who were early employees of Cockroach Labs, Flink, Dropbox, and YouTube. Our work builds on top of Timely Dataflow and Differential Dataflow, both created by our co-founder Frank McSherry, a world-leading computer scientist with decades of award-winning research in all aspects of data.

We are looking for a technical writer with an interest in using educational content to help software engineers solve difficult problems in the data space.
This role differs from the Technical Writer, Documentation one in that it sits within the Developer Marketing team and focuses on content like Guides, Blog Posts, Technical Solutions, Reports, and other content outside of documentation.
Some of the things you will be working on include:
Technical Content Strategy: Work with customer-facing teams, product and engineering to identify gaps in knowledge and problem areas in the data space. Help build a roadmap and process for future.
Technical Writing: Fill knowledge gaps and simplify problem areas with clear technical writing: Conceptual Articles, Guides, Blog Posts, Technical Solutions, Reports, etc...
Technical Content Editing: Work with engineering team to transform internal knowledge into valuable public-facing articles.
Topics and areas of focus include:
Technologies: Databases (PostgreSQL), Message Brokers (Kafka), Data Warehouses, dbt
Concepts: Analytics, data engineering, stream processing, event-driven architectures, data pipelines, migrations/schema evolution, data security, high-availability.
Languages: SQL, other language familiarity a plus!
Valuable Skills and Experience:
3+ years of proven experience writing about technical topics, whether this be blog posts, specs, or formal employment as a Technical Writer.
Ability to convey complex technical concepts in an accessible, concise and consistent way.
Good understanding and experience working with GitHub for collaboration (pull requests and reviews)
