We are seeking a Senior Prototype Machinist for our machining and fabrication operations. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in metal machining & fabrication environment and able to interpret technical drawings.
Program, set up, and operate 5 axis CNC machine tools to manufacture parts and assemblies. Perform shop calculations utilizing knowledge of material characteristics to determine optimum feeds, speeds, and dimensions.
Operate related shop equipment, hand tools, and measuring instruments.
Fabricate difficult fixtures and holding devices used during manufacturing processes.
Perform shop math calculations utilizing knowledge of material characteristics to achieve ultra-precision finishes,
dimensions, and overall design intent.
Design and fabricate advanced fixtures and jigs to be used with the 5 axis machine tool.
Establish and plan techniques and procedures to carry out advanced technical assignments and set task priorities.
Solve complex technical problems.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Extensive experience programming 5 axis CNC machine tools using a third party CAM software or the machine tool’s programming software.
Advanced level knowledge of CNC programming, machining, planning, and estimating.
Demonstrated ability to perform highly complex machining operations using 5 axis CNC machine tools, also related manufacturing and measuring equipment.
Advanced knowledge of a wide variety of materials and manufacturing processes including some difficult to machine and exotic materials.
Ability to identify, analyze, and provide solutions or alternate approaches to manufacturing problems using individual judgment and creativity.
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate tactfully and effectively in a technical environment.
Must have experience with Mastercam or other similar CAM Software packages.
Experience with Solidworks, Pro Engineer, or Autocad is also necessary.
Associate’s degree in Machine Tool Technology or equivalent completion of an apprenticeship program in the machining trade or equivalent level of related experience.
