Overview:

Engineering at LivePerson is an inspired, customer-obsessed organization dedicated to building solutions that redefine the Conversational AI industry. We work in small, collaborative, agile, and mission-driven teams with a clear mission empowering quality, continuous feedback, testing, monitoring, and end-to-end ownership. 

In this role, you will be working across many internal teams, external partners, and large customers to deliver agent matching and routing solutions. 

You will: 

Management Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop a high-performing engineering team.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and career development sessions with team members.
  • Coordinate with other teams, external partners, and large customers to deliver agent matching and routing solutions. 
  • Oversee project timelines, ensuring timely delivery of new features and solutions.
  • Utilize Agile methodologies to manage and track project progress.
  • Maintain and support existing applications and services with uptime on par with industry standards.

Technical Leadership:

  • Hands-on coding ( at least 50% of the time)
  • Lead the design and development of high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Architect REST-based APIs for backend services.
  • Improve and optimize the existing functionality of the messaging platform.
  • Ensure >99.999% uptime of mission-critical messaging service.
  • Contribute to the team’s on-call rotation and improve rapid-response coverage.
  • Assist in migrating the service to cloud-native solutions.

You have:

  • 7+ years of backend development.
  • 2+ years of experience in a technical leadership or engineering management role.
  • Proven experience as a strong Java and backend systems developer.
  • Strong experience with complex systems designs with large-scale traffic.
  • Experience in enterprise systems integration.
  • Ability to effectively communicate designs via flowcharts, sequence diagrams, and similar.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience working with data at scale, including Kafka and NoSQL databases.
  • Demonstrates the ability to self-learn and grow.
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of Java, concepts of multithreading, OO concepts and design patterns, etc.
  • Deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems
  • Ability to effectively articulate and drive technical solutions to various challenges
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experienced with cloud-based systems (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Experienced with database fundamentals (SQL, indexing, etc.).
  • Experience with multi-cloud security.
  • Experience with websocket
