This role is responsible for participating in early concept generation, industrial design and development, and transition of designs to manufacturing for hardware products at JUUL. You will work very closely with other designers, engineers, product managers, program managers, and project managers on a daily basis. Most importantly, you will be helping to maintain and evolve the vision of the physical design of JUUL products.

  • Shepherd of design intent from concept through mass production
  • Create compelling presentations to clearly describe design solutions--visually & verbally. The
  • audiences will vary: designers, engineers, and members of the product and executive teams
  • Provide justification for design decisions to product and engineering teams in order to clearly
  • communicate a logical design rationale to stakeholders and the executive team
  • Generate original concepts as part of the design team
  • Lead agenda for designs on a weekly basis in order to provide deliverables in a timely manner
  • Participate in design critiques and provide feedback on physical designs
  • Work with marketing to ensure designs accurately reflect the JUUL brand
  • Collaborate with various disciplines within the organization and evaluate technical feasibility of
  • designs while advocating for superb industrial design
  • Explore new manufacturing processes with vendors and engineers
  • Collaborate with UI/UX team to develop cohesive experiences, linking physical and digital
  • products
  • Work with manufacturing partners, ensuring all designs progress as intended
  • Some travel required to vendors locally and overseas


  • 6+ years of experience in hardware product development
  • Experience leading industrial design of projects from concept phase to manufacturing
  • Model making experience
  • Excellent sketching and 3D craftsmanship. Experience with 3D modeling packages
  • (Rhino/SolidWorks), 2D packages (Photoshop and Illustrator), and 3D Rendering (Keyshot)
  • Ability to present product vision through sketches, renderings, 3d prints, and models; and ability
  • to determine what fidelity is appropriate for a given audience
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating experience in solving design problems in consumer hardware
  • Skill in physical design and communication of functionality and usability through form
  • Iterative approach to user-centered design
  • Experience implementing insights derived from user research
  • Experience collaborating with technical teams
  • Understanding of different materials, manufacturing processes, and industry standards
  • Demonstrates excellent teamwork ability
  • Analytical and detail oriented problem solver
  • Excellent communication and listening skills (written, verbal, visual)
  • Experience in machining, CNC, and mold making is a plus


  • UX (digital) design experience is a plus
  • Ability to notice needs within the company and desire to take initiative to help address them
  • Desire to learn
  • Ability to actively participate in discussions weighing design tradeoffs
  • Ability to listen and learn from other disciplines within the organization in order to deliver designs
