The team:

The Customer Success Engineering team is a newly formed team focused on building and automating tools to empower our Customer Success teams, enabling them to work more efficiently and scale effectively. Our primary goal is to develop solutions and internal-facing systems that enable Customer Success but also benefit multiple departments across the organization (Engineering, Product, Security and Risk to name a few!)

The role:

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will lead the technical vision and evolution of our tools, by architecting scalable solutions and driving impactful projects. You’ll collaborate closely with various teams to ensure our tools meet broad organizational needs while mentoring engineers and setting the technical direction for the team. Your work will directly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Customer Success and other departments, making a significant impact on our teams and our ability to delight and support Jobber customers.

At Jobber we never stop growing and learning, and you shouldn’t either. Through continuous 1:1s, dedicated feedback and support from your manager and our Talent Development team, and your sense of curiosity, we hope you develop to another level with your skill set.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will:

  • Collaborate with the team to ideate, design, and deliver impactful features iteratively, enhancing our tools and customer experience.
  • Partner with Product and Design to shape our roadmap, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Lead and drive larger initiatives that have a broad impact across the group or department.
  • Participate in code reviews, and testing, and ensure consistency in engineering practices.
  • Facilitate group discussions to identify and implement the best solutions to our customers' challenges.
  • Research, communicate, and advocate for best practices within your domain.
  • Simplify and explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Mentor and coach junior to senior engineers, helping them grow their skills and advance their careers.

To be successful, you should have:

  • Strong software design and architecture skills;
  • Proven experience as a full-stack software engineer with a track record of building scalable software;
  • A proven ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools and technologies;
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented attitude;
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and lead through uncertainty;
  • Experience leading teams or projects as a technical leader;
  • A passion for continuous learning and growth;
  • Enthusiasm for delivering value early and often to customers;
  • A curious mindset, with a knack for asking the right questions and exploring new ideas;
  • Initiative and self-sufficiency in solving problems and driving projects forward;
  • A strong focus on quality, with experience in writing automated tests;

It would be really great (but not a deal-breaker) if you had:

  • Familiarity with our tech stack: React, React Native, TypeScript, GraphQL API, and Ruby on Rails;
  • Experience with AWS, Docker, and SQL.
