About this position:
The theatre Production Technician will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our theatre productions. This position requires a versatile individual with expertise in various aspects of theatre production, including lighting, sound, video recording, live streaming and stage management. Our showcase room is the Chevron Auditorium – a 380 person theatre with a full stage and production booth. Our production booth features a Behringer X32 Sound board with an ETC Eon Board lighting console and a Film grade Panasonic 12K Lumen 3Chip DLP Projector. We have two smaller rooms on our second floor that also require AV support as needed.
This position reports to the Events Services Manager and will lead a team of Student AV Technicians and will support I-House departments with all production related and event execution needs. The role will ensure that all the production equipment within the building is kept updated, organized and in excellent working condition. The role will create and maintain a facility tech spec/overview for our theatre and ensure the theatre is kept up to code. Will be responsible to hire, train and oversee student AV Technicians and meet production budgetary goals. Translates client’s needs and priorities into customized programs to create, enhance, and sustain relationships between International House and its clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the student AV techs working on site for all large-scale events within International House.
- Work closely with various internal departments and residents to produce and support roughly 6-8 student led theatre performances annually as well as our annual fundraising Gala.
- Assists and supports the production needs for rental clients, that range in scope from all day academic conferences and receptions to non-profit galas and fundraisers, 60-80 events per year.
- Hires, mentors and oversees 6-10 student AV technicians, based on event calendar and staffing needs
- Ability to respond to requests/questions from AV student AV techs which may also occur on nights and weekends, based upon AV and production schedule.
- Installing, configuring, operating, disassembling, and troubleshooting audio, video and lighting equipment within our Theatre.
- Coordinates with clients on production needs including lighting, sound, projection, live streaming and video recording.
- Moves sets up, strikes, operates, and adjusts AV equipment, including microphones, portable sound systems, projectors, and lighting equipment
- Provides prospective clients with tours and offers suggestions in efforts to upsell sell International House production equipment for various planned occasions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of three (3) years prior experience in theatre/production/AV support
- Solid knowledge of principles, techniques, methods and equipment used for performing arts productions including, sound, lighting, and staging preparation
- Must be able to work nights and weekends based on the schedule of events.
- Experience supervising students, volunteers or interns
- Solid application skills for both Mac and PC systems, including Microsoft SharePoint, Adobe Premier and YouTube streaming. Computer hardware skill a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
- Self-starter with proven ability to manage and independently prioritize multiple tasks, and to produce timely, high quality outcomes
- Ability to lift and carry equipment (up to 40 lbs.) such as tables, projectors and portable pieces of equipment
- Physical agility, and frequent periods of bending, stooping, climbing, pushing, pulling, standing, or sitting

- Salary Range is $74,300 - $84,800 (annual salary for this role is commensurate with experience)
