What You’ll Do  

  • Analyze and interpret Agency & Investor Announcements, Bulletins, HUD Mortgagee Letters, VA
    Circulars, etc. and create updates for internal implementation of guidelines and product changes. 
  • Participate with our designated team members to prepare formal Change Management Announcements when needed.
  • Ensure all underwriters are brought up to date with Investor and Agency updates as they become available; this will include training when required.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the company’s various selling guides and overlays
  • Work with Operations Managers to develop and execute detail, ensuring policy and procedures, job aids and guidelines are developed and implemented and communicated to the appropriate team members organizational/operational objectives for the department and projects.
  • Create content for procedures, training materials, decks and other content for product related initiatives
  • Create business requirements and change request documents relating to product management and development projects
  • Conduct competitive and market research to support strategic initiatives and product planning
  • Responsible for assisting Underwriting Manager with training new team members when needed
  • Review and track underwriting defects from internal and external quality control audits findings to identify trends and develop training materials
  • Provide recommendations for potential opportunities for expansion and identify
    credit/product/policy/process and system impacts.
  • Oversee Appraisal Analyst team to ensure they effective and using all tools to determine if a ROV is warranted 
  • Oversee Post Closing Department to ensure it is efficient and effective aligning with operational strategic objectives
  • Monitors, resolves and reports on investor purchase suspense items and insuring missing items. Prepares reporting for operational units addressing common suspense items.
  • Manage and perform loans salability duties for VA, Jumbo and Conventional mortgage
  • Requires Post-Closing department meets or exceeds turn times for all required documentation including title policies, recording, insuring packages are submitted to appropriate agencies within required deadlines.

What You Bring

  • Must have a minimum of five years’ experience in mortgage underwriting including conventional (Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac), FHA, VA, and/or specialty program underwriting
  • Experience with HUD test cases preferred with an active Direct Endorsement (DE) and CHUMS preferred
  • LAPP/SAR is preferred
  • Ability to understand and interpret policy, and effectively and clearly communicate instructions to others, summarize and articulate issues, and document findings and responses in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal) and an ability to foster internal and external business relationships to achieve needed results.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risk and provide recommendations and/or resolutions to minimize risk.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment and take initiative on projects with limited supervision.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Competency in writing business requirements, mapping process flows, testing, execution
