Role Overview

Hillel at Baruch, City, John Jay, Pace, SVA, FIT, Fordham, and New School is hiring an Engagement Associate to join our team. You will build one-on-one relationships with students, put on awesome events across campuses, and help inspire students to make a commitment to Jewish life. Our Hillel serves approximately 4,500 Jewish students across eight Manhattan campuses. Each year, our student leaders and professional team create more than 300 program opportunities for students to engage in Jewish life, learning, and Israel.

Our Hillel’s next Engagement Associate is a dynamic, creative, well-organized professional with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for Jewish life.  The ideal candidate is highly motivated, outgoing and engaging, and able to connect with students. Every day brings new ways to connect Jewish young adults with opportunities to further their identities and practice active Jewish life.

This position is full-time in-person in New York City.

What You’ll be Responsible for

  • Supporting student-initiated programs and events as well as creating and facilitating your own
  • Serving as a Jewish resource to students and groups on campus
  • Identifying uninvolved/under-involved student populations and developing strategies for contacting and engaging them
  • Representing Hillel on campus with students

What You’ll Do

  • Build individual relationships with students and expand overall student engagement to reach every one of the estimated 4,500 Jewish students across our eight schools, including travel to various campuses.
  • Work together with student leadership to develop and implement programs on and off campus in categories of: Jewish life, learning, Israel, and community building. 
  • Connect students with a variety of opportunities including Hillel leadership positions, Jewish life in New York City, jobs and internships, Jewish trips abroad, travel to Israel, Jewish and pro-Israel conferences, and more.
  • Recruit for Birthright, Hillel delegations to conferences, and other trips.
  • Gather and input engagement data into our CRM on a regular basis.
  • Support the day-to-day operations of Hillel including programs and events, administrative and organizational tasks, and welcoming students into Hillel spaces.

What You’ll Bring to the Job

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 0-2 years’ professional work experience
  • Ability to connect to college students, patience, and excellent listening skills
  • Willingness to learn about and engage in a new and culturally diverse community.
  • A strong entrepreneurial spirit
  • Confidence initiating and running programs, and comfort asking questions
  • Belief that our work isn’t done until every Jewish student is connected to Jewish life
  • Excitement to continue developing your own relationship to Judaism
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a great professional team.

What You’ll Receive

  • The salary range for this role is $45,000-$48,000.
  • Unlimited data, text and call package from Verizon Wireless.

The Hillel at Baruch, City, John Jay, Pace, SVA, FIT, Fordham, and New School aims to serve 4,500 Jewish students across eight campuses in Manhattan. Our mission is to enrich the lives of the Jewish undergraduate and graduate students so they may enrich the Jewish people and the world.  The commuter students that attend these schools come from diverse backgrounds including the Former Soviet Union, Persian, Bukharian, Syrian, Israeli, and American-born students.  Club activities take place during club hours on campus and away from campus at locations across Manhattan.  Activities are centered around our primary pillars of:

The Hillel at Baruch College opened its doors to students in 1944.  Since 2015, our Hillel has expanded to include The City College of New York, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Pace University, School of Visual Arts, Fashion Institute of Technology, Fordham University, and The New School.
