We are seeking a Chemical Engineer or Chemist to join us at this exciting stage of growth at our Burlington MA location.
Responsibilities:
- Generate chemical mixtures in the laboratory according to formulations and procedures developed by senior chemical engineers and maintain meticulous batch records and observations.
- Characterize physical properties of chemical solutions such as pH, viscosity, surface tension, and other functional tests according to written test procedures as well as maintain accurate test records.
- Develop and qualify test procedures.
- Organize/analyze data and communicate experimental conclusions to the team.
- Contribute intellectually to the team by sharing ideas for product and process improvements.
- Maintain a high level of communication with a cross-functional team and partners.
- Working with an interdisciplinary team to define, write, and execute designs of experiments.
- Maintain clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety and chemical hygiene policies including maintaining chemical inventory records and ordering materials.
Experience:
- BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Biochemistry
- Experience in coatings and/or adhesives a plus
- Experience working in a chemical laboratory in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Ability to work well in a highly collaborative team structure with shifting priorities.
- Experience in operating 3D printers and/or development of inkjettable fluids is a definite plus.
- Familiarity with DOE software packages such as JMP or Minitab is a plus.
- Experience driving design decisions based on research and testing.
- Demonstrated ability to develop a deep understanding of end-user needs quickly, and proficiently translate those needs into the right technology solution.
- Ability to resolve complex issues in creative, efficient, and effective ways.
