The Global Trade Compliance Officer reports to the Director, of Global Trade Compliance and is responsible for ensuring compliance with US and Canadian Customs, Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Office of Foreign Assets Controls (OFAC), Food & Drug Administration (FDA), and other partnering governmental agencies.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Product classification to include Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Export Control Classification Number (ECCN), United States Munitions List (USML)
- Determine government jurisdiction through the Order of Review process
- In-depth knowledge of Technical Assistance Agreements (TAA) and Manufacturing License Agreements (MLA)
- Apply knowledge of GRIs, Cross Rulings, and Explanatory Notes to classification decisions.
- Develop Quarterly Trade Compliance reviews by company/sector
- Serve as the technical point of contact for international regulatory issues
- Prepare and submit binding rulings
- Develop and execute policies, procedures, and controls
- Coordinate with Program Managers on export planning for contracts, task assignments, and new business and product initiatives
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Certified US Export Compliance Officer -CUSECO® or equivalent experience
- Licensed Customs Broker, or equivalent experience
- Empowered Official (EO)
- Must have or be able to obtain U.S. Department of Defense DoD Security Clearance
- Bachelor’s degree with experience in International Trade Compliance activities related to Defense, FAR, DFAR
- Knowledge of Partnering Government Agencies (PGAs)
- Knowledge of qualifying goods under Free Trade Agreements
- Strong experience in building new relationships that drive cross-functional process improvements
- Proficient in Oracle and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Office, Excel, Access, SharePoint)
- Demonstrates problem-solving skills and continuous improvement methodologies.
