The Opportunity:

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Part-Time Payroll Specialist to support our payroll operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll processing, employee benefits, and tax regulations. This role involves ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing for employees, maintaining payroll records, ensuring state tax compliance, and supporting the finance department with other related tasks as needed.

This is a part time contract position. 


The Skill Set:

  • Strong command of multi-state payroll processing including regulations, tax laws and unemployment insurance compliance. 
  • Payroll systems experience (e.g., Rippling, ADP, QuickBooks) and proficiency with Excel and other relevant tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Good communication skills to interact with employees and management.

What You'll Do:

  1. Payroll Processing:
    • Process semi-monthly payroll for all employees (US and Canada).
    • Ensure timely and accurate payroll calculations, including overtime, bonuses, deductions, and benefits.
    • Verify hours worked and other payroll-related data for accuracy.
  2. Compliance & Reporting:
    • Stay up-to-date with local, state, and federal payroll tax regulations and ensure compliance.
    • Assist with the preparation of payroll tax filings (e.g., 941, state tax filings, and other required documents).
    • Generate and review payroll reports for errors or discrepancies.
  3. Employee Inquiries:
    • Respond to employee questions regarding pay, benefits, deductions, and other payroll-related matters.
    • Provide clarification and support regarding pay stubs, tax withholding, and pay-related issues.
  4. Record Keeping:
    • Maintain accurate payroll records, ensuring confidentiality and security of sensitive employee information.
    • Assist with the preparation of year-end payroll reports, including W-2s or 1099s.
  5. Collaboration:
    • Work closely with Finance and HR departments to ensure proper coordination and accuracy of payroll data.
    • Assist with audits or internal reviews related to payroll.
  6. Other Duties:
    • Assist with payroll-related projects or tasks as needed.
    • Support benefits administration or other HR duties as required.

 

Please note that the compensation range below is a guideline and final compensation will be based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies.
