ROLE: Content Strategist

LOCATION: Uxbridge, UB8



Dare and AYS (part of the Inside Ideas Group) are currently building a team for one of our largest clients, Hertz; a global leader in the automotive and transportation space. The Hertz Corporation has an exciting portfolio of car rental brands – including Hertz, Dollar, Thrifty and Firefly - as well as the fleet management company Donlen.

 We are looking for a Content Strategist.

 Are you an experienced practitioner and advocate of content design? Are you aware of wider digital trends and driven by the need to improve how brands communicate with their audiences? Then this may be the role for you.

 You will take a high-level view of how a user’s content journey maps to business processes, for both information and transaction-based services.

 You will design, create and iterate content working within multidisciplinary teams. You will own the content and its quality throughout a user’s journey, and be comfortable using evidence, data and research to back up your decisions.

 You will work in multidisciplinary teams, alongside user researchers, interaction designers, service designers and Online Content Managers. You will also be able to work independently and provide content consulting and training services as required.

 You will be expected to bring knowledge of content and wider digital trends to bear, to manage other content strategists, participate in client education and promote best practice among senior stakeholders.

 Our team will support Hertz’ 6 corporate markets (France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Benelux, UK) across EMEA, as well as work with the central partnerships, digital, CRM and brand teams. This team will serve as Hertz’ bespoke agency, working at the heart of their business.

  • Online content management
  • Paid & optimisation

Your training, line management and career progression will be handled through our Central London hub.

With this role however although you will be expected to be able to work directly into and with a Hertz brand team seamlessly with Hertz Digital Team, there will be reporting lines into Hertz marketing directors as well as AYS and Dare team leaders.

You will have direct relationships with clients and work autonomously within their team, however the role requires you to still be a representative of AYS/Dare and the Hertz onsite team business.



  • Creating content and developing strategies to help digital products meet user needs and business objectives
  • Monitoring and improving content based on user feedback, research and data
  • Working effectively with subject matter experts, stakeholders and partners to deliver clear, relevant content
  • Ensuring all content assets are user-focused, accurate, optimised appropriately (e.g. for search), and meet relevant design, style and brand guidelines
  • Working with colleagues to understand user behaviours and data patterns to improve how products perform
  • Taking an overall perspective on business issues, wider implications and long-term impact, and how content can help solve challenges
  • Ability to support the content team with peer reviews, content audits and benchmarking
  • Promoting user-focused content design across Dare, our partners and clients
  • Managing and mentoring content strategists as required
  • Influencing and interacting with senior stakeholders and colleagues
  • You will be working with Hertz’ partner Content Square
  • You will be helping Hertz for content migration into their new site and content strategy
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be required and/or assigned as necessary



As a Content Strategist we will expect you to have the following skills:

  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience within content strategy roles
  • Must be a strategic thinker with an innovative approach to content, pushing the boundaries of how content can be used to decode consumers more emotional needs and solve business problems
  • Ensuring the team take a test and learn approach to content; real time data and insight driven optimisation to improve performance of digital content
  • Gather content experience is a plus
  • Solid understanding of e-Commerce business, automotive sector, website advertising and technologies used
  • This role can be either full time or part time but must include a minimum of 2.5 days onsite at Hertz.
  • The remaining time will be used to work on other client projects out of the Dare London hub.

  • Experience in automotive, transportation and/or travel brands
  • Multi-market experience
  • Languages spoken (Italian, French, Spanish, German, Dutch)
