We have an opening for a Senior Director of Platform Engineering to lead us to a best-in-class delivery organization and deliver the strategy for our CI/CD Pipeline consolidation, Tooling, Move to OTL (Open Telemetry), Kubernetes Adoption, and transform the culture to a Platform Engineering Org and DevOps Culture.
What You Will Do:
- Instill and drive a delivery-focused culture while promoting a fun, hardworking workplace environment
- Help teams scope and create project plans around key business initiatives
- Work closely with program management to ensure timelines are met to the satisfaction of key stakeholders
- Verify that systems and practices are compliant to internal and external specifications
- Coordinate with different project teams to identify and develop cost-reduction processes, as well as strategize on procedures to maximize the team's effort and productivity within the approved deadline.
- Bring a passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, and mentoring other members of the engineering community
- Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity.
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable platform solutions that support cloud, hybrid, and on-premise environments.
- Develop and manage infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform and Ansible
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define platform architecture, monitoring, and automated deployment strategies.
- Ensure the platform’s availability, scalability, and performance by proactively identifying and addressing bottlenecks and failure points.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline code deployment and infrastructure updates.
- Monitor and troubleshoot platform issues, providing timely resolution to keep systems running smoothly.
- Drive initiatives for improving platform security, compliance, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Drive the adoption of Containerization and OTEL
- Ensure Secure Code Delivery as part of CI/CD (CVE reductions, etc.)
Who you are:
- 15+ years of industry experience with 6+ years in a managerial role
- Proven track record establishing and leading successful software teams
- Experience managing and engaging teams in remote locations
- Experienced in quality practices, techniques, and tools at all layers of the stack
- Experience with high availability, high-scale, performance systems preferred
- Scrum and agile enthusiast along with understanding of other methodologies including Kanban
- Hands on enough to contribute to technical conversations, decisions, strategies, and review code
- Familiarity with .NET, JavaScript, React.JS, MySQL, AWS/Google Cloud, Linux, Java and a range of open source libraries
- Proven experience as a Platform Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), DevOps Engineer, or related role
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and cloud-native technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, etc.)
- Expertise in infrastructure as code (IaC) and automation tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, etc.)
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Go, Bash, etc.)
- Experience with container orchestration and microservices architectures
- Familiarity with Open Telemetry, monitoring, logging, and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, etc.)
- Solid understanding of networking, security, and scaling best practices
- Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Chef, Puppet, Salt)
