Cloud Chamber is looking for a collaborative Lead Level Designer to join us and act as the bridge between the studio development team and our external partner’s Level Design teams. You will be responsible for maintaining and managing relationships with our external partners while building workflows. You have a well-developed sense of how game systems, narrative and spatial design combine to deliver memorable player experiences which enables you to review level design work, provide constructive feedback, and champion for high quality efforts that align with the design goals of our project.

Job Duties: 

  • Act as a key communicator, bridging communication between our internal Design teams and our trusted external partners.  
  • Collaborate with our internal Design Directors and Leads on project direction, strategic goals and co-development mandates.  
  • Ensure external teams have everything necessary to produce content in-line with the overall game vision.  
  • Raise flags to the internal team for any areas that require additional support and alignment.  
  • Review content with external partners and provide feedback that is aligned with the design direction of the project.  
  • Support the co-dev milestone review process to validate contractual deliverables for Level Design.  
  • Define and maintain workflows and processes between our internal team and external partners.  
  • Partner closely with Production Stakeholders to ensure Level Design needs for our external partners are delivered in a timely manner and milestones are met.  
  • Identify and implement best practices and workflows conducive to consistency and deliverability of game content.
  • Implement communication strategies for enhancing the cross-pollination of ideas and sharing of knowledge amongst content creators.
  • Collaborate closely with various stakeholders to track game progression, variety, and pacing. 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications: 

  • Shipped at least one AAA project as a Senior or Lead Designer, and appreciate the complexity of taking an idea from concept to ship.
  • You have experience managing processes and a history of leading by example. 
  • Self-motivated with an eye for solution-based problem solving.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing priorities. 
  • Collaborative, compassionate, and authentic.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with a critical eye for detail.

This is a fully remote role that may be based anywhere in the United States. Below are the expected salary and wage ranges for applicants based in locations where the pay transparency law is in effect:

Colorado: $115,000 and $150,000 per year
California: $145,000 and $170,000 per year
New York State (inclusive of New York City): $145,000 and $170,000 per year
Washington: $115,000 and $150,000 per year

Base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards and eligibility to participate in our 401(K) plan, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees will also receive 14 paid holidays per calendar year, are eligible to earn a minimum of 15 days of vacation leave per year (subject to proration based on start date during the calendar year) and will receive 10 sick days per calendar year. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, 4 including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
