What you’ll be doing

We’re looking for a Financial Operations Accountant to work closely with our Head of Finance & Head of Financial Operations to join our small but mighty Finance team. The role will be part of a growing finance team that will evolve over the coming years as Cleo expands and comes with opportunities to develop and be exposed to other areas of the finance team in the future.

We’re building a world-class, data-driven and tech-focused Finance team. You will be very much hands-on and responsible for reconciling and reporting on our loan book and warehouse facility, global payroll operations, day-to-day management of equity and other operational activities. Strong attention to detail with good analytical skills will be key for success in the role.

The Financial Operations Accountant is expected to collaborate with colleagues across the wider Finance Department, and the Commercial and Product teams to drive forward enhancements to our financial capabilities, reporting and decision-making.

Some of the things you'll get involved with:

  • Reconciling and reporting our loan book and new warehouse facility to relevant 3rd party stakeholders
  • Ensure that all global payrolls are processed accurately and on a timely basis
  • Take ownership of the payroll process by suggesting process improvements and ensuring compliance with relevant authorities
  • Responsible for day-to-day operations of the equity and options scheme along with the related financial reporting
  • Review of the pension scheme and ownership of compliance and reporting
  • Ensure that the impact of new systems, processes, or initiatives are appropriately considered and incorporated into existing reporting and controls environment
  • Lead and assist with ad hoc projects  
  • Leading projects to develop and future-proof the finance function; exploring new tools and ways to automate manual processes

What are we looking for?

  • Recently Qualified Accountant (CIMA / ACCA or equivalent) 
  • You have experience in processing and managing payrolls from a finance perspective 
  • Strong Excel skills
  • You can quickly pick up new concepts, and dive into a problem with a solutions-oriented, outcome-focused mindset – even with no prior background in the subject matter
  • A get sh*t done mindset; you’re comfortable rolling up your sleeves and diving into financial data to deliver at pace with limited resources
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical capabilities, and the ability to develop creative solutions for challenging, open-ended problems

Nice to have:

  • A passion for or previous experience in the Fintech sector
  • Xero and SQL experience

Interview Process

  • 30-minute video call with Florian Rose from the Talent Team
  • Take-home Task assessing spreadsheet knowledge, ability to analyse data, and problem-solving skills. This will take 1-2 hours to complete.
     
  • 60-minute video call with Lou Burt (Head of Finance Operations) and Andy Murray (Head of Finance)
  • 45-minute video call with Daanish Shahid (Management Accountant) and a colleague from the Operations Team
