Summary:

  1. This is a highly visible position that will define and execute the Payment strategy for Boku in South Africa
  2. You will be the key commercial interface and responsible to identify, engage, develop, on-board and manage new and existing partners, which include
    1. Mobile Network Operators
    2. eWallet & Bank Transfers
    3. payment service providers (PSPs)
    4. merchants
  3. You will also be the local account manager, supporting global account management to engage & and expand our business with key strategic merchants where required.

Location: South Africa

Coverage: South Africa (may be required to cover other countries with Africa)    

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Busines Development & Partners Management
    1. Understand the payments business in South Africa in specific and Africa in general to identity, qualify, develop, manage and execute the Supply pipeline for Payment (i.e. ewallets, Account to Account payment, Mobile carriers)
    2. Support smooth & efficient partners on-boarding & service launch, ensuring full compliance to Boku’s business ethics, audit, and regulatory guidelines.
    3. Negotiate with partners to optimise conversion, improve pricing & marketing support and manage operational contract addendum, invoice & settlement issues
    4. Establish and manage strong relationships & rapport with key decision makers in carriers/eWallet/PSPs/merchants
    5. Become key ‘problem solver’ for partners in any matters related to Mobile Payments
    6. Full knowledge of the regulation landscape around licensing, banking and settlement to enable the selected candidate to lead discussion with central bank, payment authorities and banks
  2. Interact and communication:
    1. Working closely with EMEA management to develop the Payment strategy; ensure alignment on commercial strategies and business objectives.
    2. Working closely with internal stakeholders (i.e. Product, Project, Legal, Finance, Sales, Account Management, tax, regulatory and banking teams etc) to finalize commercial, close contracts & complete technical integration with Mobile Payment partners (i.e. carers/eWallet/PSPs/merchants)
    3. Act as the ‘partners’ champion’ within the organisation, and Boku’s ambassador to partners.

Qualification:

  • A university degree/diploma in any discipline; preferrably in Business Adminstration, Sales & Marketing
  • At least 7 years of experience working in a combination of business development, project management, marketing or product development with at least 5 years in payment, remmittence or aggregation business.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in both English (other languages will be a plus)

Experience:

  1. Experienced self-starter with a customer-centric focus, an analytical mindset, and attention to detail.
  2. Strong advantage if candidate has experience working in the Payment. Telco, eCommerce, FinTech; preferably in Mobile Payment, Alternative Payment, Local Payment Methods
