Blend is hiring a detailed mortgage Subject Matter Expert is passionate about making borrowers as well as industry professionals lives easier.  This individual will collaborate with product and engineering teams as a subject matter expert in all things mortgage related.
 
How you'll contribute:
  • Leverage your deep industry expertise to assist in building tools around key components of the mortgage lifecycle.
  • Understand mortgage applications and documentation requirement nuances in order to build rules and escalations via technology.
  • Establish a credit risk based review criteria for all loans types.
  • Communicate and document common fraud issues and determine how to resolve items using technology.
  • Assist in developing automation around compliance rules and triggers that fall into the mortgage operations purview.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
 
Who you are:
  • You have more than 7 years of experience working as an Underwriter at a major lender or Tech company. 
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills that enable effective cross-team collaboration and alignment on key objectives.
  • Your customer service and quality of work has been key in your success. 
  • You have a passion for improving financial technology and access across the country.
  • You thrive thinking strategically about complex business processes and their product implications.
  • You understand the details as well as the nuances of using Loan Origination Software Systems 
  • Proficient with automated underwriting systems.
  • You are open to thinking outside the box while being flexible to new ideas.
 
Bonus Points!
  • You have experience working as an Underwriter and Processor across multiple, diverse lending institutions.
  • You have experience collaborating with product development teams.
  • You have worked in a underwriting quality function and/or assisted with User Acceptance Testing
  • You have a MLO license
