This role will be an integral part of the Blend Revenue Accounting team reporting directly to the Revenue Accounting Manager in the U.S. You will lead a team responsible for accurately recording revenue, analyzing revenue transactions, and providing technical guidance on revenue recognition matters under ASC 606 / IFRS 15. We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, works well in collaborative teams, demonstrates strong communication skills, detail oriented, and who thrives in a rapidly growing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in revenue accounting, extensive knowledge of ASC 606 / IFRS 15, previous experience in the software industry, and can identify and implement best-in-class processes and controls to support the growth of the business.

How you'll contribute:

  • Revenue Analysis: Lead the process of contract review through sales order setup in Blend’s ERP to ensure appropriate revenue recognition aligned with Blend’s revenue recognition policy and ASC 606 / IFRS 15
  • Revenue Recognition Compliance: Assist the Revenue Accounting Manager in the U.S. with maintaining Blend's revenue recognition policy under ASC 606 / IFRS 15. Evaluate new business initiatives and their potential impact on revenue recognition
  • Month-End Close: Lead the month-end close process for revenue accounting, ensuring accurate and timely recording of revenue and related journal entries
  • Financial Reporting: Collaborate with the finance and accounting teams to prepare accurate and timely financial statements and disclosures related to revenue recognition
  • Audit Support: Prepare deliverables for the annual audit process related to revenue recognition, including liaising with external auditors and providing necessary documentation and support
  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of one to two revenue accountants onsite in the Mexico City Office, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities to foster a high-performing team culture
  • Collaborate cross functionally with the Billings and Collections and Funded Loan Reporting team in the Mexico City Office to ensure efficient flow of the entire Quote-to-Cash process
  • Research and evaluate new technical accounting standards, prepare technical memos, and articulate positions with external auditors
  • Assist in optimizing accounting policies, processes and procedures, and implement internal controls over quote-to-cash process
  • Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently, maintain high degree of accuracy, meet tight deadlines, and solve problems quickly and proactively
  • Support the team with various analysis and ad hoc projects

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in revenue accounting, with a focus on ASC 606
  • Minimum of C1 level proficiency speaking English
  • Previous experience in the software industry is highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles and accounting standards, including ASC 606
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex contracts and transactions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with NetSuite ARM
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to effectively lead a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and present complex information to stakeholders at all levels of the organization
