We're starting with our own specialty coffee brand built on top of next-generation electric street carts and micro kiosks, while powering our customer experience through mobile ordering. Our vision is to empower local businesses around the world with the same operating tools & technology, making their goods more accessible for people to discover and love. We're rapidly expanding our reach throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan and looking for a Commissary Manager to own & manage our local commissary operations.   

Position Overview

As the Commissary Manager at Blank Street, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the smooth running of our central facility. The central facility will be the heartbeat of the company, therefore this role is crucial to the success of our day-to-day operation at Blank Street.

The right candidate will be incredibly organized and thrive in a process heavy working environment. You are familiar with the use of Inventory Management Systems and comfortable ordering and allocating goods for multiple locations under one roof. You are an excellent leader, able to demonstrate efficient and systematized working environments for your teams. As one of our early hires, you will collaborate very closely with every single member of the founding team and will be given the freedom and tools to achieve your goals however you see fit. Key responsibilities

  • Lead and support a cohesive team of commissary workers
  • Ensure our carts are deployed each day with the inventory they need to succeed
  • Maintain inventory pars needed for an entire company, working with each vendor to ensure all goods are available to our customers and are received in good condition
  • Maintain elite operating standards across your commissary areas such as:
    • A well stocked and organized dry goods area
    • The careful handling of our coffee 
    • The cleaning and functionality of our battery powdered carts
    • The safe storage or each cart
    • The correct fulfillment per cart
    • All compliance needs for the facility and individual carts
  • Own the underlying P&L of your facility with regards to mitigating wastage, controlling purchasing, safety of goods and assets and producing accurate inventory counting and reporting for Upper Management
  • Plan efficient scheduling for the commissary in line with business needs

Desired Requirements

  • 3-4 years of experience leading operations in high growth hospitality/consumer brands or must have at least 2-3 years experience leading a large production, kitchen or commissary facility
  • Track record managing inventory and supply chain ordering
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must have ServeSafe certification or similar
  • Hands on and highly action-oriented
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to perform under pressure and time constraints
  • Must be comfortable working evenings and weekends where business dictates
