Lab Technician
The Lab Technician is responsible for accurate sample analysis, data entry and interpretation of data. Additionally, you will perform the daily operations of the Quality Labs including all quality testing, auditing, and inspection activities in order to assure quality of product.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe and clean work area.
- Ensure that the laboratories are always “tour ready”
- Daily data entry of test results and quality projects
- Data interpretation of testing
- Organize areas for testing and test sample storage
- Manage all laboratory related supplies ensuring proper storage and maintaining adequate inventory levels
- Listen to and follow work requirements as instructed
- Perform hands on lab testing of sand samples per test instructions
- Familiarity with: Sieve testing, crush tests and turbidity testing
- Communicate quality-problems to plant management. Analyzing, identifying and communicating problematic trends, e.g. recurring first pass issues
- Work on projects with minimum supervision
- Keep accurate records of test results
- Prepare reports or memos on assigned tasks or projects
- Maintain lab equipment in good operating conditions
- Follow internal test standards
- Attend all company provided training programs
- Complete all additional tasks and projects as assigned by plant management
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills, and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management
• 4-year degree or a minimum of 3 years of experience in a Quality Control position or lab, preferred
• Self-motivated, goal-oriented and driven towards continuous improvement
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
- Required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, sit and climb or balance
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Capable of working a rotating shift, 14 on 7 off rotating between days and nights
- Must be able to tolerate conditions associated with no air conditioning or heat
