What you'll do:
- Serve as a primary contact responsible for the overall health, performance, and capacity of our platform application services on a 24X7 rotation basis
- Analyze complex systems from a reliability and resilience perspective.
- Build tools & establish practices to assist the dev community in improving observability and reliability.
- Contribute to the java/kotlin applications to improve the observability of existing applications.
- Programmatically automate routine cloud deployment, administration, and monitoring tasks.
- Reduce the toil with tooling and automation.
- Drive incidents to resolution by collaborating with multiple engineering teams.
- Identify sources of instability in distributed systems and drive operational excellence.
What you'll need:
- 3 to 5 years of experience in DevOps and/or Development
- 2+ years of programming experience in Java, other programming languages like Python/Go is value add.
- Good knowledge of application servers, servlet containers, and web servers like Tomcat.
- 2+ years of experience with monitoring and data analysis tools like DataDog, Nagios, Prometheus etc.
- 2+ years of experience in cloud platforms like AWS.
- Strong knowledge of Linux systems and internals. Usage of debugging and troubleshooting tools such as strace, tcpdump, wireshark, auditd, gdb
- Good understanding of networking protocols and security concerns (SSL, VPN, VPC)
- Ability to work unsupervised, independently and within a global team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent collaboration skills and interpersonal skills
