Position Summary:
School Safety holds a critical role for our network, as we are committed to maintaining the highest level of safety for all staff and students. School Safety will formally report to the Director of Operations.
This is a part-time role. Typical hours are Monday through Friday 7 am -1 pm or 130 pm - 630 pm.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Be the gatekeeper to our school building:
- Assist visitors with directions and secure proper identification.
- Detect, investigate and report unauthorized or suspicious persons, vehicles and activities.
- Notify building administration, police, and/or appropriate emergency personnel of any emergency, potentially dangerous or unusual situations.
Ensure safety and efficient reporting:
- Monitor hallways, stairwells, toilet facilities, outside facilities, and other public and unsupervised places of the school to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff and the security of the facility.
- Assist with fire drills, crisis’ and other emergency building evacuations and situations.
- Assist administrators and staff in crisis and emergency situations.
- Ensure a smooth traffic flow of students through the hallways, assisting students with on-time arrival to class and to assigned locations.
- Supervise and direct student movement during arrival and dismissal.
- Update security records, logs, and reports.
- Participate in appropriate in-service and workshop programs as directed.
Build culture with staff, students and families:
- Promote school culture by greeting students and visitors.
- Display ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the school.
- Promote student responsibility for behavior and attitude by serving as a role model.
- Contribute to the organization's image by maintaining professional attire and grooming.
We are seeking candidates with the following experience, competencies and assets:
Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED
- 2 years full-time experience as an effective security guard, preferably in a school.
- Demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of the task assigned.
- Demonstrated knowledge of security procedures.
- Private security or public police experience, including knowledge of school & local laws and search & seizure (preferred).
- Comfort utilizing technology to communicate, track and organize work and information (e.g. Google Suite, documents, spreadsheets).
- Excellent human relations skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with children, staff, and families.
- Complete and pass pre-employment fingerprinting and reference check process.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Perform other duties as assigned

- High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.
- 16 Hour Security Guard Training required.
- F-01 Fire Guard Certification (required to obtain within 90 days of hire)
- Ability to speak, read, write and understand the Spanish language
Compensation:
- $15hr - $19hr
