What You Get to Do:

 

In this role as an HR, your primary focus will be on the initial stages of the employee life cycle, from offer letter generation to pre-onboarding and through the first 90 days of employment. You will play a critical role in supporting employees during this crucial stage, ensuring they feel welcomed, supported, and set up for success. This position offers a unique opportunity to build strong relationships with new hires during an exciting phase of their journey.

 

A key aspect of this role is the ability to understand the nuances of employment agreements within our global presence. You will confidently address a variety of questions related to benefits and support at Alpaca. Additionally, you will guide new hires on how to thrive in our dynamic, high-growth work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management:
    • Support building of new foundational initiatives.
    • Able to discern and proactively identify areas to build out operating procedures. 
    • Can take project with little advisement and move forward with regular check ins to redirect as learning company culture. 
  • Onboarding:
    • Prepare and distribute offer letters, ensuring timely manager follow-up.
    • Customize offer letters to comply with country/state-specific regulations.
    • Deliver a positive and engaging onboarding experience for all new hires.
    • Actively participate in new hire initiatives and projects.
    • Conduct regular follow-ups with new hires and their managers to ensure a smooth transition and adequate support.
    • Coordinate and facilitate virtual new hire orientation sessions for different regions.
    • Maintain accurate new hire and job requisition reports.
    • Proactively update management on onboarding progress and new hire status.
    • Oversee the entire onboarding process from offer acceptance to the 90-day mark.

 

  • Generalist Duties:
    • Build out and support engagement programs for the company.
    • Promote company values and initiatives through daily interactions.
    • Provide exceptional internal customer service and support by taking ownership of all HR accountabilities.
    • Collaborate with department heads to identify, assess, and address employee needs and concerns.
    • Foster positive employee relations by being responsive, approachable, and trustworthy.
    • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations across our global workforce.
    • Uphold company policies and practices while exercising sound judgment in handling exceptions.
    • Partner with the VP of HR on payroll processing.
    • Perform other HR-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience as an HR generalist or higher with a strong emphasis on relationship building.
  • Proven experience in managing and supporting onboarding processes within a remote/distributed company.
  • Proficiency in HRIS (Bamboo a plus) and ATS (Greenhouse a plus) reporting.
  • Experience with ADP, TriNet, or Deel is preferred; experience with other PEOs is permissible.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost integrity.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • HR certification with a focus on Canada or Europe.
    • Working knowledge in US, Canada and Europe strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting a global workforce.
  • Domain knowledge (FinTech and/or  Series B to C tech companies)
