Job Description 

The Field Ops Lead is ultimately responsible for the successful running of all aspects of Field Operations, specifically including, but not limited to: expansion and enrolment, repayment, delivery, compliance, repayment, execution, innovation, and more.

The department lead is responsible for selecting and prioritizing new projects, advising team members on projects and operations, leading planning processes, advising the team on analyzing results, making recommendations on project management/planning, as well as playing a lead role in ad hoc issue resolution and crisis management.

Key Job Responsibilities

Co-Develop and execute Tubura Burundi’s  Operations strategy that contributes to the program’s financial sustainability while increasing farmer impact every year

  • Develop an annual tactical strategy that details the key strategic priorities and annual OKRs & KPIs that puts Tubura on a path to its financial and impact goals.
  • Establish a diversified customer approach to grow our margins and impact.
  • Communicate FOPs strategy to your teams in order to cascade the broader strategic priorities that should guide department priorities.
  • Liaise with global support teams to provide the necessary support to further Tubura goals in impact and product strategies.
  • Develop a trail of leaders within Tubura through professional development and coaching opportunities.
  • Harness a productive and caring Tubura culture that exemplifies Tubura values and the organization’s culture code. 

Oversee and support team in executing the Tubura strategy and achieving set goals

  • Support the team in increasing farmer understanding on behavior and purchasing power in order to contribute to strategy that will leverage opportunities for growth. 
  • Support the team in setting field goals and tracking them to ensure we are providing appropriate support and keeping teams accountable to goals. 
  • Develop a new execution calendar that details field activities in integrated and field (core) only areas. 
  • Assess the productivity of the team to ensure the team is spending their time effectively on the most impactful activities e.g. review meetings time/objectives and other field activities. 

Oversee and support field people team

  • Support the team to set and exemplify team culture that celebrates hard work and wins and does not tolerate non-productive and harmful behavior such as fraud, assault etc. 
  • Support team to streamline administration of incentives and other field payments and materials in order to get value for money and deliver on time. 
  • Monitor and design HR policies that ensure inclusive and fair compensation across all operations team members.

TUBURA Team Lead

  • As a Team Lead within the TUBURA org chart, this person will contribute to broader TUBURA strategy through participation in the bi-weekly TUBURA Steer-co meeting and taking ownership of the results across the board.
  • As a Team Lead within the TUBURA org chart, this person will be expected to play a leadership role within their team, this includes:
    • overall responsibility for the success of your team’s OKRs, 
    • management of your team’s budget and budget goals
    • setting the strategic direction of your team inline with broader division and TUBURA strategy
    • leading the team meetings for the team
    • ensuring that all members of the team are kept updated on broader strategy
    • playing an HR and development role for the team - ensuring the team keeps to HR policies, PDR timelines etc.

You are a talented professional with solid experience in leading large teams and executing at scale. Most importantly, you can paint the picture of a compelling vision for our team, you have strategic thinking skills as well as enjoy problem-solving and working in a fast-paced and high-stakes environment. In addition, you have a solid track record of fostering professional growth in others. Other criteria are:

  • You are a mission-driven individual that can align 100% with OAF’s values in putting farmers first.
  • Strong performance in past 3-4 PDR cycles, preferably in Field Operations or systems.  
  • You have at least 2 years direct management experience with strong examples of people development.
  • Strong general management skills and ability to manage a wide range of topics across different teams.
  • Ability to lead a team in setting a vision, annual strategy and goals and hold everyone accountable to it.
  • Contribute to Tubura strategy and communicate this effectively to the team and other stakeholders. 
  • Strong collaboration/relationship building skills  with internal and external partners too. 
  • Proactiveness and good judgment for risk mitigation 
  • Excel/Google Sheets knowledge to support financial modeling and tracking.
  • A good understanding of the country program and how Tubura contributes to the wider strategy. 
  • A good understanding of the Tubura budget and how it fits into the broader country budget. 
  • You are humble and you combine strong leadership skills with good humor, patience, and a humble approach to service.
  • Language: English and French required. Kirundi desired.
