Job Description
The role of the Local Government Relations Assistant (LGR) focuses on establishing a presence of OAF at the Parish, sub-county, and district levels in OAF areas of operation. The holder of this role will also ensure the program’s regulatory compliance and keep the GRP manager informed of legal and policy developments at the local level that have implications for the program. The Government Relations Assistant will be reporting to the Head of Government Relations and Partnerships.

Key Job Responsibilities
- Stakeholder management
- Manage local administrator relations from the Parish and sub-county level (LCIII to LC1).
- Establish positive relationships with appointed and non-political influential opinion leaders within the communities OAF operates.
- Support Field Officers to maintain supportive local champions in the areas OAF operates.
- Set up local information networks to gather relevant information for program expansion and field operations.
- Represent OAF at local government meetings and non-government events within its areas of operation.
- Execution
- Organize events and other activities to support the OAF goals, such as government field visits, program launches, press visits, and sub-county meetings.
- Liaise with field leaders to prepare and train field teams on government relations protocol.
- Maintain updated GR troubleshooting tools to track, and resolve all arising government-related issues.
- Report on government and policy structures to help expand the program.
- Compliance
- Liaise with local government entities(parish, sub-county, and district) that regulate or influence OAF business activities to ensure smooth running of OAF operations.
- Process and obtain all permits and licenses required by the district regulatory offices.
- Perform research on different compliance issues and share with your manager.
Top Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelors in Political science, Development studies, Social work, or other related discipline
- 2+ years of experience in stakeholder management: Preference for those who have experience working with government officials and understand government structures.
- Experience navigating complexities of the government relations process whether at a village or national level.
- Excellent written communication: Experience in proof reading documents and ability and knowledge of ability to communicate effectively to the right stakeholders
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
