About the role
In this job you'll be leading and executing the product vision for one of our early-stage (pre-seed, seed) companies. You'll be working extremely closely with founders and a small team of engineers (1-5).
This is the job for you if you if you love having high leverage and being hands-on with design and engineering. You will be the utmost expert on the product you are building, and responsible for shaping its future.
In this role, you'll be researching customer problems, writing product briefs to distill them in a way other stakeholders can consume, and collaborating closely with your team's designer and engineers to arrive at sensible solutions. You'll be talking to customers, users and competitors constantly, and pushing to get feedback on early prototypes as quickly as possible.
This role is likely not a good fit if you aren't comfortable with making big decisions, and making them quickly. You are not likely to have weeks to get your product requirement specs elaborated just right. Likewise, this is not a fit if you want to spend most of your time on high-level vision and strategy.
About you
This is a senior role. We are looking for experienced PMs who ideally have worked at relatively early-stage startups before.
We want you to apply if you:
- Have 5+ years of professional experience in tech, and at least 3 as a product manager specifically
- Can articulate the business value of your work easily and clearly, using data and metrics when appropriate
- Are able to articulate product strategy and priorities to team members and stakeholders
- Collaborate seamlessly with engineers and designers, helping to create appropriate processes for documentation, project management, etc.
- Can get your hands dirty and go outside your comfort zone to get things done (e.g. hitting APIs directly with Postman, writing some SQL queries, writing app copy, doing manual QA)
- Are "technical", both in the sense that you can troubleshoot your way out of JIRA (& co) headaches, and in the sense that you care about the lasting implications of architectural decisions in your product
- Have excellent English communication skills, both written and oral
- Are a champion for users.
Some extra stuff we love:
- Entrepreneurial experience – you've run your own business (of any kind – a nail salon, a restaurant, a design agency, a Shopify or Etsy store)
- Interdisciplinary background – you've spent time as a designer, data scientist, engineer, or other role in tech companies
- Experience building tools with low-code and no-code tools
- Hyper-organized, tools-obsessed productivity nerds
- Experience in healthcare/medtech -- many of our companies are in this space; other highly regulated industries are a plus as well.
