ABOUT THE JOB
The ACLU seeks a full-time position of Associate Director of Business Intelligence in the Development Department of the ACLU’s National office in New York, NY.

Reporting to the Deputy Director, Prospect Development, in Nationwide Development Resources, the Associate Director will work collaboratively within the Nationwide Development Resources team to help refine and advance the Nationwide Fundraising Model, by developing and applying innovative business intelligence reporting to support fundraisers nationwide in their donor strategy, prospect development and management, and performance analysis. The AD will work in close collaboration with colleagues in Analytics and Product & Technology, all national development units, and with ACLU development staff nationwide.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- In collaboration with ACLU’s national and affiliate fundraising community, advance the nationwide fundraising model by creating resources and tools that support fundraising performance and best practices
- Contribute to a team that serves as a centralized hub for all Development resources nationwide, including requests for data analysis to support national and affiliate fundraisers in evaluating their fundraising and performance through standardized metrics
- Develop and apply business intelligence resources that improve fundraising workflow, fundraiser portfolio management, transparency, accountability, and performance nationwide
- Act as project manager for the ACLU’s nationwide fundraising model, drafting best practices guidelines and implementing a data model that aligns the ACLU’s segments of supporters into a cohesive pipeline from supporter marketing to major gifts
- Serve as a liaison to the Analytics, Development Data & Systems, and Product & Technology teams
- Communicate and document data best practices updates for Development users nationwide and provide guidance to users on data and reporting practices, with a goal of integrating the nationwide fundraising model into users’ workflows
- Contribute to and/or lead development data orientations and learning communities, presenting new business intelligence tools and providing training on workflows
- Provide proactive and responsive portfolio management support for affiliate and national Development teams, ensuring data integrity and data standardization for nationwide donor portfolios

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with data visualization using business intelligence tools (e.g. Looker)
- Proficiency with SQL
- Experience with cloud-based constituent relationship management software and data warehouses, such as Salesforce, Redshift, or related platforms
- Strong communication and presentation skills, including ability to positively influence and persuade, and to use listening and diplomacy to build internal relationships
- Exceptional organizational, planning and project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and coordinate collaborative work processes involving multiple stakeholders
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in nonprofit development, with a track record of using business intelligence reporting to answer fundraising questions
- Familiarity with data engineering
- Capacity to take initiative and work independently, as well collaboratively as part of a team.
- Experience working at a national or international organization in constituent data management
COMPENSATION
The annual salary for this position is $110,206 (Level G). This salary is reflective of a position based in New York, NY. This salary will be subject to a locality adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting. Note that most of the salaries listed on our job postings reflect New York, NY salaries, where our National offices are headquartered.
