The extrusion / mold tech position is a hands-on support role of Manufacturing Operations by setting-up and operator automatic or semiautomatic machines and related equipment in a production / processing environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up and operate plastic extrusion equipment and/or injection molding equipment to manufacture precision tubing to established quality standards in order to meet production demands.

  • Assist engineering team in development of extrusion tooling, equipment and material.

  • Know process of screw and tool design, resin characteristics, temperature control, automated feedback loops, and ancillary downstream equipment such as burst testers and slickers.

  • Troubleshoot, repair and conduct maintenance on extrusion equipment.

  • Ensure materials necessary for extrusions are dried to specifications.

  • Mix, blend, or color raw materials as required.

  • Write and execute equipment qualifications on all new or modified tooling or equipment to test and qualify items and provide documented proof that operations are within established parameters.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED 

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience

  • May require vocational of technical education or certification

  • Knows process of screw and tool design, material characteristics, temperature control, automated feedback loops, and ancillary downstream equipment 

  • Medical device experience is preferred 

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve quality and labor time targets.

  • Working knowledge of a cleanroom environment and a willingness to work in a laboratory environment is required.  

  • Work in a team environment is required.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, talk, hear and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. 

  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
