Payroll Associate 

Regular Full-Time

Position Overview 

The Payroll Associate processes payroll for assigned shows and to be the point of contact for the client in aspects of payroll processing.  The Payroll Associate is expected to proficiently demonstrate payroll processing ability in all Canadian related payrolls, union and non-union.  They are responsible for data entry and setting up employees in our payroll system and is expected to demonstrate accurate keying functions in a timely manner.   

Core Responsibilities 

  • Employee maintenance, deal memo setup, update address information, TD1’s, and agent information. 
  • Process in-coming payroll, which includes checking the timecards are in accordance with all applicable Provincial, and Collective Bargaining Agreements. 
  • Process BG, union and non-union payrolls as well as other payrolls as needed. 
  • Accountable and responsible for quality service in assisting and servicing clients in regard to payroll production. 
  • Maintain the client relationship as it related to the processing of the client’s payroll. This includes responding to questions and resolving payroll issues. 
  • Verify HST accounts against the CRA HST Registry. 
  • Verify union member status by referencing updated union membership lists. 
  • Check timecard verification reports as needed. 
  • Maintain accurate and acceptable files on each client/show, in accordance with company policy. 
  • Back-up as needed for running tax credit reports. 
  • Back-up as needed with preparation of union remittances. 
  • Gain an understanding and becomes proficient in our system and digital products, including our onTime Product and HTG system. 
  • Proficient knowledge and utilization of payroll database system. Should be familiar with applicable programs: invoice, batch, timecard editor; and reports: timecard verification, fringe, pencan, buyout and payroll history. 
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as assigned. 

Key Qualifications 

  • Must have a minimum of 1-year experience in payroll or data entry experience. 
  • GED or equivalent required; 4 year degree preferred.  
  • Proficient, accurate and timely data entry skills. 
  • Ability to work towards team and individual goals. 
  • Knowledge in Provincial Employment Standards. 
  • Exhibits urgency with regard to client servicing. 
  • Excellent PC skills. 
  • Flexibility to shift priorities as needed to service the team’s clients. 
  • Self-motivated, must be able to work independently, goal oriented and people oriented. 
  • Strong communications skills with ability to collaborate with internal teams and clients.    
  • Strong time management skills with ability to meet expectations and requirements of internal and external customers in a timely fashion.  
  • Excellent multi-tasker - ability to prioritize and handle multiple demands.   
  • Eliminates inefficiencies.  
  • Schedule must be flexible to accommodate workload and client needs.  
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed. 

Special Work Conditions  

  • Sedentary – Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Some positions may entail exerting up to 15 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, or pull.  
Compensation is commensurate with various factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, skills, training, licensure, certifications, geographic cost of labor, and other business and organizational needs. Compensation range for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location.
The compensation range for this position is:
$21$22 CAD
