Purpose
In this role you will be responsible for executing new product designs through our organization methodically, comprehensively, and rapidly. You are as comfortable discussing customer requirements and product features and you are capable of ensuring the highest standards of product quality and optimized product manufacturing costs. You will drive the process that takes a product from design, based on customer defined requirements, through to prototype and ultimately production.
What You'll Do
- Lead development of molded fiber products for Zume product selling markets in US and globally
- Coordinate closely with product design, engineering, and manufacturing to ensure new designs and products can run efficiently and effectively on Zume equipment, optimizing, quality, cycle time, product performance and delivered cost
- Develop molded fiber products which meets established shipping and packaging standards
- Work with sales and design to identify and implement unique molded fiber features and solutions, while ensuring such features are vetted and authorized by Engineering and Operations
- Work closely with the operations and engineering team to ensure new features and developments are defined and understood by all key areas of the organization
- Work closely with Sales and Marketing, Design, engineering, and Supply Chain teams to understand product requirements and share manufacturing feasibility and costs
- Drive and coordinate creation of product prototypes with engineering, tooling fabrication, and R&D operations
- Consolidate and communicate prototype outcomes to drive further design development and/or sales activities
- Working in close collaboration supply chain and QA to develop specifications, functional parameters and quality norms for Zume products
- Design, develop and implement product validation protocols and quality assurance standards for each product
- Work closely with Zume’s costing team to identify and detail delivered product costs throughout the development process and collaborate with supply chain on value engineering.
Who You Are
- An experienced project manager or product development manager
- You have extensive manufacturing experience, preferably in packaging
- Ideally, you have a degree in packaging, supply chain management or engineering
- Minimum 5 years of work experience
- Ability to manage multiple projects at a time
- Data oriented approach to problem solving
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong influencing skills
- Dedicated and committed to leaving the planet in better shape that you found it
