The Role

Under the direction of the Fleet Support Supervisor, maintain, repair, drive a thirty-foot truck (standard class-c license required) and install food service and mobile food facility related equipment as required and other duties as assigned for the efficient operation of the Zume Fleet. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all food service systems on Mobile Food Facilities (MFF).  

Maintenance and Repair

  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions in various types of food service and refrigeration systems.
  • Install new food service and refrigeration equipment and systems when required.
  • Relocate and expand existing food service (kitchen) and refrigeration systems as required.
  • Repair, replace, or calibrate controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and install electrical wiring, controls and piping according to specifications and code.
  • Wire and connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, and humidity controls according to wiring schematics.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for all equipment, including changing of filters and cleaning condensers and coils.
  • Perform all scheduled preventive maintenance and cleaning on all food service equipment as needed.
  • Receive and complete work orders.
  • Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates.
  • Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
  • Knowledge with dismantling and reassemble all equipment to make a diagnosis is a must
  • Respond to emergency calls as needed.

Safety

  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
  • Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including but not limited to lifting, climbing, etc.
  • Report unsafe conditions in work area
  • The Fleet Service Manager or his/her designee may assign other duties and accountabilities limited to those consistent with the applicable job function and pay grade.

Education/Certification:

High school diploma or GED
ASE Associate’s Degree preferred but not required
Valid CA driver’s license

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, reach
  • Ability to push/pull
  • Ability to lift /carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to grasp tools
  • Ability to discern color
  • Repetitive motion
  • Working conditions: Frequently works outdoors. Exposed to noise.
  • Ability to work graveyard shift is a plus

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of commercial food service (kitchen) equipment repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques
  • Knowledge in the operation of electrical control systems
  • Ability to drive a 30-foot truck (standard class-c license)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material
  • Ability to operate a computer and assigned software
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
  • Ability to use hand and power tools

Physical Requirements:
