This is a working manager role where you may be tasked with helping complete writing assignments along with your team, when necessary.

To do this you will build strong working relationships with the cross-functional product development areas of the company. You must have a hands-on approach to the technology and to the products being documented. You will help enhance and expand the current documentation to provide a variety of learning tools for our customers.

  • Translate technical information into clear, concise, and effective documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ensure that your team delivers post-sales content for online documentation (i.e., help articles, release notes, etc.) as well as provide UI text (i.e., UI tooltips, labels, error messages, etc.) for use by our UX and Engineering teams on the schedule.
  • Ensure that your team integrates graphics and illustrations to improve the quality and usability of the documentation.
  • Be the “voice” for the Technical Publications team when working cross-functionally with Product Managers, Engineers, Sales, Product Marketing, and all other teams at Zscaler.
  • Be the “champion” and advocate for your direct reports and the team.
  • Assist in defining standards, style, and terminology.

  • 8 - 12 years of experience in technical writing.
  • 2+ years of experience as a manager or lead.
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, communications, or a related field (i.e., technical writing/communications certifications are also acceptable).
  • Strong project management experience.
  • Strong resolve and focus on maintaining a proper work-life balance for all your direct reports, as well as yourself.
  • Detail orientated with a strong understanding of the process and procedural documentation, content reuse, and continuous documentation delivery.
  • Excellent oral, written, analytic, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to mentor and influence without authority.
  • Self-motivated and effective in a fluid environment.
  • Hands-on experience with HTML5/CSS.
  • Hands-on experience with JIRA and/or Confluence.
  • Must possess creativity and a sense of humor.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.

By applying for this role, you adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and Zscaler policies, including those related to security and privacy standards and guidelines.
