The Team & Role

We are now looking for a full-time user experience researcher to join us as the first expert research leader on our product design team and help us make our customer focus more robust! This is an exciting step in our company growth and our commitment to putting customers first in everything we do.
 
In this role, you will work closely with other leaders across product management, engineering, and design to develop and implement timelines, workflows, and key objectives for product research programs and efforts. Someone with strong communication, collaboration, and product thinking skills will do well in this role. If you are excited to grow research in a research-focused organization, both partnering and driving research practices, this is the job for you. In this role you will be one of Gem's primary points of contact between our product teams and research participants; helping navigate 600+ companies and identifying key opportunities for research. You will help to schedule and facilitate research studies, synthesize and organize the team’s insights, and drive impact of business outcomes and the product strategy through research.

This role reports directly to the Head of Design.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing the operational infrastructure to support a growing user research practice in a rapidly growing company
  • Proactively identifying areas that can benefit from UX research based on company priorities
  • Working to help our product team uncover user behavior, needs, and motivations
  • Sourcing, conducting phone screens, and scheduling participants for research studies
  • Tracking and reporting on the effectiveness of research methods
  • Experimenting with new tools, processes, an techniques for improving research
  • Coordinating study logistics alongside cross-functional peers
  • Defining and helping hire additional user experience researchers in the future
  • Exemplifying and evangelizing great research practices for all members of the company

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years prior experience in a user experience research role
  • Experience working with cross-functional product teams consisting of product managers, engineers, and designers
  • Proven track-record using research to drive product, user experience, and business outcomes
  • Experience working with a highly diverse set of customers
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to plan, organize, and work autonomously
  • An eagerness to grow research practice within a company already utilizing research every day
