Position Summary

Reporting to the VP Finance & Corporate Controller, the Senior Manager, SEC & Technical Accounting will be primarily responsible for managing the company’s SEC reporting, SOX compliance and technical accounting.  Candidate will be responsible for assessing, creating and implementing policies and process improvements as well as streamlining existing processes.  Candidate should have strong communication skills, foster collaboration and desire to be part of a team.  Candidate should have the ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects at once.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the company’s process for SEC reporting including coordination of inputs for all aspects of our Form 10-K and 10-Q filings including review for all appropriate disclosure requirements. Monitor deadlines to ensure timely filings. Work directly with members of the business to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial information.
  • Oversee technical accounting research and special projects including consultation with technical accounting experts and external auditors when the need arises.
  • Prepare annual and quarterly memos to support our accounting position.
  • Lead and manage updates to formal internal control documentation in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (“SOX”) and ensure responsibilities are performed in accordance with appropriate internal control requirements.
  • Monthly journal entries, reconciliations and analyses related to assigned areas.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax accounting projects as a liaison to our tax consultants for our tax provision, returns and other tax-related projects.
  • Assist with preparation for annual audits and quarterly reviews, including interaction with external and internal auditors and tax consultants.
  • Create and update policies and process documents as needed. Actively participate in updates to policies, systems and process including monitoring assigned areas for process improvements to ensure efficiency.
  • Ad hoc analysis and other special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required with a minimum 6 years of experience;
  • Biotech/Life Sciences experience (preferred)
  • CPA or candidate seeking CPA certification preferred
  • Broad knowledge of accounting principles (US GAAP)
  • Internal controls (SOX) experience
  • Strong systems skills; experience with top tier accounting/ ERP systems; proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with SEC filing software a plus
  • Ability to follow instructions for multiple projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as with other groups across the business

The position is eligible for a competitive compensation and benefits package.

Zenas is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary pay range for this role is $135,000 to $150,000. Actual compensation packages will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to depth of experience, education, skillset, overall performance and/or location.
