We are looking for an experienced sales and marketing person to accelerate the success of a technology-enabled capital raising business that connects institutional investors worldwide with a select group of listed alternative investments. The service, created by a leading New York-based financial services firm and a Silicon Valley-based technology firm, brings together unique access to institutional investors globally through a regulated investment platform. The position involves working both independently and as a team to speak with investors about the service, thereby raising awareness, increasing usage, and making them more aware of the types of offerings currently available and in the pipeline. The ultimate goal is to strengthen sales and marketing efforts such that institutional investors and family offices conduct due diligence and commit capital to listed alternative funds (private equity, direct lending, long-only, hedge funds, venture capital and more) as well as direct secondary opportunities. Ideal candidates will come from placement agents.

Specific Responsibilities

  • To leverage a number of existing online networks, a worldwide conferences business, Webinar series, and investor preferences database to target relevant investors seeking to make capital commitments to opportunities featured within the service
  • To act as a brand builder for the service
  • To understand the mechanics of the technology for presentation to investors enforcing their appreciation of access to alternatives fund products
  • To monitor the emerging needs of the institutional investors to ensure that the service lists investments that meet their requirements
  • To market the listings on the service with a clear understanding of the opportunities’ details
  • To manage your own investor territory to ensure investors are utilizing the company’s services and are considering capital commitments to listed investment opportunities
  • To be a team player and effectively work with colleagues based in New York (NY), Mountain View (CA), and London (U.K.)
  • To keep databases updated with your call and meeting notes and investor outreach efforts
  • To embrace responsibility for investor outreach and engagement
  • To report progress on your target metrics
  • Travel to meet with institutional investors and family offices
  • To help source interesting investment opportunities

Required Skills

  • Series 7 and Series 63 qualification or willingness to take exams
  • Self-starter and ability to meet investor outreach goals
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to work with a team
  • Manage time effectively

Additional Skills that Will Contribute to Success

  • Knowledge of institutional investor and family office investment preferences
  • 5-10 years experience working at a placement agent, in investor relations at an alternatives asset manager, as a consultant / gatekeeper, or in a similar position that allows for an understanding of investors and the marketing of alternative fund products
  • Enthusiasm for technology-enabled solutions to financial transactions; desire to be in the “fintech” sector
  • Understanding of how to secure capital funding for investment opportunities
