Here’s a summary of the role:
As the Engineering Manager, you will lead a team dedicated to delivering cutting-edge consumer behavior insights and providing actionable views of audience engagement across devices and channels. Your team will drive the technology that powers our consumer insights platform, analyzing data from search, social media, streaming, and shopping interactions, and connecting these behavioral insights with opinion data from our industry-leading panel. By mapping the complete customer journey—from discovery to purchase—you will help empower brands with data-driven, opt-in insights that enable a true understanding of consumer needs.
In this role, you will provide technical leadership to the engineering team, ensuring product quality, and promoting best practices. You will also recruit, structure, and manage the team while fostering a positive and productive environment. Additionally, you will manage project scopes, timelines, and resources to ensure timely delivery and communicate effectively with stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a software engineering background in a senior or leadership role, strong project management skills, and experience managing and growing engineering teams. Strong communication skills and the ability to align technical projects with business objectives are also essential.
Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll do (not all of it, just the important stuff):
- Lead by example to ensure the technical excellence of the engineering team.
- Steer the team by helping select the right tools and technologies, ensure product quality and promote best practices, provide mentorship and guidance, maintain alignment of a technology roadmap with department and company goals.
- Build and maintain a high performing team through recruiting, structuring, and managing skills. Ensure a balanced, high-performance, positive and productive environment, set goals, provide mentorship, empower your teammates, and foster the growth of engineers.
- Define project scopes, timelines, and allocate resources to meet goals and needs. Identify and mitigate risks while ensuring timely and effective delivery. Communicate statuses, challenges, successes and collaborate with stakeholders and leaders.
- Manage and maintain knowledge bases and technical documentation. Ensure components and decisions are captured efficiently and correct processes are followed.
- Collaborate closely with other teams, ensure mutual understanding and alignment of requirements and goals.
These are the essentials you’ll need to get an interview:
- Software engineering background in a senior or leadership role (prior experience with data engineering, big data, or software engineering with python would be a plus).
- Strong project management skills, ensuring on-time delivery of software projects.
- Proven ability to manage, mentor, and grow software engineering teams, including performance reviews and personal development.
- Strong conflict management and resolution skills, fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders and articulate complex technical concepts.
- Experience working in industries where data is central to the business, such as tech, finance, healthcare, or e-commerce.
- Ability to align technical projects with business objectives and ensure the team is focused on delivering value to the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to manage third-party relationships effectively, ensuring alignment on project objectives, timelines, and deliverables.
