Who We're Looking For:

We are looking for a versatile technical contributor to bring your previous experience in full scale aircraft flight test to a growing Flight Test Operations department. We’re looking for someone who can work with limited guidance to manage competing priorities in the planning, execution, and reporting of test activities across all disciplines associated with the development of Xwing’s products.

What You'll Do:

You will work closely with engineers, pilots, and maintenance and manufacturing technicians to create and achieve the technical and safety requirements of ground and flight tests during developmental and certification flight tests. You’ll join the team in its early stages and play an important part of shaping the team’s future.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Foster and model a strong safety culture within Xwing
  • Work with engineering to develop technical expertise of the Xwing product
  • Author Test Plans and Test Cards as both a safety and technical expert
  • Lead the execution of ground and flight tests
  • Author test reports on ground and flight test activities in both daily and programmatic formats
  • Track aircraft configuration and status
  • Operate the ground control station as a remote pilot (for qualified applicants)
  • Serve as airborne crew on the Experimental aircraft
  • Support data analysis

Flight Test requires in person work, flexible work hours, and the potential to travel to support occasional domestic deployments.

Required Qualifications:

  • University degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent 
  • Previous work as part of a flight test execution team, preferably as a test conductor or director
  • Technical depth in at least one, and familiarity with each area:
    • Aircraft aerodynamics and performance
    • Modern flight control systems
    • Data links and sensor systems
    • Human Factors, and Crew Resource Management
  • Exceptional technical and nontechnical communication skills
  • Comfort with high pressure environments and critical decision making 

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Strong preference for applicants with at least a Private Pilot Certificate, ASEL
  • Previous experience on civil certification programs 
  • Graduate of an SETP recognized Test Pilot School
  • Previous experience with uncrewed aircraft over 55lb 
  • Familiarity with maintenance of certified aircraft
  • Experience designing or installing flight test instrumentation
