Who We're Looking For: 

Xwing is seeking an experienced GNC engineer to develop safety-critical, model-based solutions for our Autoflight System (AFS). You’ll get to work with a world-class engineering team in autonomous transportation and aerospace. Responsibilities and compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • You will develop aircraft control system architectures, requirements and model-based design to support 14 CFR Part 23 Supplemental Type Certification
  • Act as an embedded authority within the field of FAA certified Autoflight Systems
  • Utilize linear and non-linear modeling and analysis in the development of safety-critical technology
  • Prototype and test algorithms in simulation and/or on aircraft
  • Develop requirements-based tests to achieve DO-331 model coverage analysis objective
  • Support flight test activities, including validation and verification of control law design troubleshooting/revising control laws as required
  • Support DO-178C/DO-331 activities and objectives
  • Work with the HILsim engineers to develop and maintain the simulation environment for autonomous aircraft
  • Run large scale simulations, analyze simulation results and generate high-quality reports
  • Participate in hardware selection for sensor and other subsystems
  • Support subsystem testing and verification in simulation and in the field

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or related engineering discipline
  • 8+ years of GNC experience in safety-critical airborne systems
  • Experience developing Matlab Simulink and/or Ansys SCADE models
  • Experience working with DO-178 and/or DO-331
  • Experience with real-time embedded computing systems
  • Working level experience with higher order languages such as Ada, Fortran, C, C++
  • Effective at working in a multidisciplinary team and communicating across stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, startup environment

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience selecting and testing sensors and/or other hardware
  • Experience with autonomous systems
  • MS/PhD in a related field (CS / ME / AE / EE)
