Xwing is seeking a hands-on entrepreneurial Mechanical Engineer to design, build, and install automation systems in experimental aircraft. You will be joining a world-class engineering team in autonomous transportation and aerospace. Responsibilities and compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Example Responsibilities:

  • Detailed design of integration of sensors, motors, and other systems onto aircraft
  • Manufacturing of basic parts like mounting brackets for components
  • Interfacing with machine shops for production of complex parts
  • Work with suppliers for sourcing components and managing inventory
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders (e.g. GNC, electrical, flight test engineers, test pilots) for integration efforts
  • Conceptual design and analysis of future aircraft systems

Required qualifications:

  • University degree or equivalent professional experience in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Robotics Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience in prototype design and fabrication
  • Experience with hand tools, basic machining, and rapid prototyping techniques
  • Proficient with SolidWorks or other CAD package
  • Effective at working in a multidisciplinary team and communicating across stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast-pace environment

Desirable qualifications:

  • Experience with electromechanical systems
  • Experience with FEA modeling
  • Familiarity with Python or other programming languages
