Why we're hiring:

As a Data Engineer in the WPP Enterprise Data Group, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data solutions that provide enterprise-scale data transformation across a broad range of projects. You will collaborate closely with data analysts, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that data is effectively and efficiently collected, processed, and made accessible for analytical purposes.As a hands-on technologist with an extensive data engineering background, you will be joining a group of Data Engineers who are passionate about building the best possible solutions for our business and endorse a culture of life-long learning and collaboration. 

What you'll be doing:

  • Develop and maintain robust data pipelines using Python, SQL, and experience with big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark 
  • Utilize Azure native services, including but not limited to Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Databricks, to build and optimize data workflows. 
  • Deliver data pipelines using best practices for data storage, processing, and retrieval in Azure cloud environments. 
  • Continuously monitor and fine-tune the data platform's performance to meet SLAs and optimize resource utilization, ensuring smooth and fast data access for analytical needs. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and design scalable data solutions. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, ensuring data quality and integrity. 
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in data engineering to contribute to continuous improvement. 

 

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. 
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role. 
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for data manipulation and analysis and experience with big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark 
  • Hands-on experience with Azure native services, particularly Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database (Synapse), and Databricks. 
  • Proven experience in performance optimization and tuning of data pipelines and database queries. 
  • Solid problem-solving skills and analytical thinking to address complex data engineering challenges. 
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
