As we progress on this journey, we need to ensure we understand, in real time, the economics of our technology spend and how it is driving and enabling broader business value. As a result, we’re investing in a new FinOps function that will span our entire IT spend across our globally distributed businesses and teams.

You’ll play a critical role in developing our FinOps maturity, embedding process and best practice whilst driving insight and cost optimisation for our business. You’ll be a strategic advisor and critical thinking, and be part of a new revolution in WPP!

 

What you'll be doing:

  • Support the implementation and adoption of FinOps practices for WPP, including tools, cost models, operational processes, governance, and controls for our global public cloud spend (>$40m per annum).
  • Creation and delivery of insightful FinOps reports and recommendations to our internal customers
  • Drive a practice and culture of proactive cost management and optimisation to help our internal stakeholders rapidly control our costs but importantly deliver value
  • Implement our tagging strategy and other foundational processes, working with our Cloud Hub team, to drive sustainable insight on our cloud estate and operational efficiency through automation
  • Build and maintain a suite of real-time cloud cost insights to identity and drive cost optimisation opportunities and build the ability to link cloud services to business value
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to create a step change in cost transparency, spend forecasting and ensure efficient consumption and usage through rightsizing, reserved instance and utilisation
  • Support the design and delivery of a range of educational activities and materials to embed a FinOps culture, mindset, and behaviours across the IT organisation

What you'll need:

Qualification Requirements (Desirable)

  • Degree in engineering, computer science, finance or equivalent (i.e. MBA) desirable but not essential
  • FinOps or TBM qualifications (or equivalent)
  • Finance or accounting qualifications (desirable)

Skills / Experience Requirements

  • Experience of using cloud cost management tools (Cloudability preferable, as well as native tools)
  • Experience in effective IT cost management strategies, tools, models, and processes
  • Knowledge of Public Cloud offerings, consumption models and billing concepts
  • Expert data & analytical skills with the ability to gather, analyse and interpret significant amounts of information accurately
  • Relevant experience in helping businesses understand the economics of shifting from on premise architecture to SAAS, PAAS and IAAS
  • Proven experience to translate customer needs and strategies into reporting, analytics, data, and stakeholder management necessary to drive business value
  • Strong communicator with a track record of operating, partnering with and influencing up to and including exec-level stakeholders
  • Ability to operate and lead in a fast-paced organizational transformation and able to navigate and champion change across organisational / geographical complexity
