Under the direct supervision of the Surf Ranch Facilities Manager, the Facilities Lead is responsible for the overall upkeep and maintenance of Surf Ranch grounds and facilities, ensuring tasks get completed on time. This position keeps the location clean and maintained in all areas. Facilities Leads perform work with a high degree of accuracy and skill maintaining the overall appearance of the grounds, which results in a safe well-groomed environment. The Lead role must have a thorough understanding of all facilities and equipment, systems and be able to lead, coach and instruct other team members.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Sweeping and maintaining the grounds to keep it free of debris
  • Clearing brush and trimming shrubs around various parts of the property
  • Maintaining the exterior condition of the overnight accommodation (airstreams)
  • Servicing the hot tub, bicycles, equipment and other items at Surf Ranch when required
  • Assisting with Project work, which may include minor construction, or building activities
  • General yard maintenance and sprinkler repair
  • Understanding of the Septic and Water Systems, filtration, and chemistry in order to complete checks
  • Staff Scheduling
  • Understanding the Surf Ranch guest schedule to keep guest disturbance to a minimum
  • Actively looks to improve their site and works with their staff to coach them into performing at their best
  • Will assist in both the creation of and execution of work schedules and assignments of duties for groundskeepers to ensure the smooth and cost-effective operation and completion of grounds operations
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment, including worksite and equipment
  • Works with Safety Manager to maintain a safe work environment

Experience and Qualifications

  • 3 years previous facilities, maintenance, landscaping or construction experience required
  • Previous experience with motorized equipment and hand/power tools used in grounds maintenance work
  • Experience operating machinery and large trucks
  • Knowledge off irrigation techniques using sprinklers, hoses and flooding methods
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO), and/or Aquatics Faculties Operator (AFO) preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of the proper use of chemicals, fertilizers, and pesticides

  • The employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, pushing, pulling and digging
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to work outdoors and in hot and cold climates
  • Flexible hours, ability to work early mornings, evenings and weekends
