The Role: We are seeking a Python Developer with interest/experience in DevOps to join a team that works on complex distributed architecture, spanning physical machines as well as virtual on premise and cloud infrastructure. The role is to help stand up centralized DevOps, develop tooling, do automation, and help existing teams adopt best practices. The ideal candidate will have the ability to manage complexity and tackle problems across multiple stack layers as a part of a small team championing operational excellence. Our teams are lean and agile, which means rapid prototyping of products with immediate user feedback. We seek people who think in code, aspire to solve real world challenges, feel comfortable to give and receive feedback, and are motivated by being around like-minded people.
Responsibilities:
- Architecture As-A-Service solutions based on Open Source Software.
- Collaborate across teams and work within your own team on various products that the team and its partners support.
- Develop tools to improve our ability to rapidly deploy and effectively monitor services in a large-scale distributed environment.
- Add metrics and measurability to problem spaces and provably improve them.
- Work with teams to design, develop, and implement innovative software solutions related to the DevOps and Agile transformation of the enterprise.
What You’ll bring:
Must have
- A solid understanding and hands on experience working with Linux based systems.
- Strong Python coding skills
- Experience with GitLab (preferred), GitHub, Git, or similar.
- Understanding of large systems/system architecture
- A great team attitude (our job is to make life easier for other teams!).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Nice to have
We don't expect candidates to have experience in all the below, but the ideal candidate would also have
- Strong working knowledge of container orchestration technologies such as K8S and preferably cluster management (E.g. Slurm)
- Experience with infrastructure as a code and related tools such as Helm, Ansible, Terraform.
- Hands-on knowledge with containerization systems such as Docker or Podman.
- Understanding of, and experience with, using relational databases
- Experience with monitoring and logging systems such as Prometheus and Grafana.
