At WorkLeap, we’re seeking a Director, Corporate Controller to lead our accounting and financial reporting activities. This role is not just about numbers, but about contributing to the strategic direction of our company. As the Director, Corporate Controller, you will be the backbone of our financial integrity, ensuring the accuracy of our financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and instilling a culture of strong internal controls across the company. 

You will have the opportunity to shape the financial future of our company, driving strategic financial decisions that will impact our overall growth. Your leadership will be instrumental in optimizing our accounting processes and achieving our days-to-close targets. 

Responsibilities:

• Leadership: Lead the development and execution of the company’s accounting function. 
• Financial Reporting: Ensure the preparation and delivery of financial statements. 
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. 
• Process Optimization: Optimize and automate accounting processes. 
• Internal Controls: Deliver comprehensive internal controls through analysis, continual improvement, and formulation of remediation plans when deficiencies are noted. 
• Audits: Lead audits with external auditors, including addressing any audit findings and implementation of corrective actions as needed. 
• Team Management: Ability to lead multiple remote teams effectively. 
• Global Revenue Recognition Review: Participate in the global revenue recognition review. 
• Days-to-Close Targets: Achieve the days-to-close targets through direct oversight of the monthly close process.  

A typical week?   

As the Director, Corporate Controller, your week will be dynamic and include many different asks and priorities.  It will be filled with strategic planning, people management, budget management and cross-functional collaboration.  Specifically, this includes meeting with your leadership team to align on short- and long-term objectives, review operational metrics, 1:1s with your direct reports to discuss progress updates, blockers teams may be facing, and performance reviews. There should also be weekly discussions with cross collaborators to go over upcoming features, client feedback and explore potential strategic partnerships.    

In summary, a typical week at Workleap is varied and challenging, requiring a balance of strategic thinking, technical expertise, and strong leadership skills to drive innovation, collaboration, and excellence within the development teams and across the organization. 

What does your future team look like?   

You will lead a team 10 finance professionals in total, including 2 managers, across all aspects of invoicing & collections, expenses and reporting. 

What are the next challenges awaiting your team?   

The team is working to improve the reporting timeline and processes throughout all areas of the function.  There are many known challenges and likely many unknown ones coming also.  This role will have a major impact on the future of the finance function at Workleap.

Qualifications 

• CPA with 10+ years of experience in complex accounting;
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and ASPE;
• Successful experience as a Corporate Controller;
• Proven leadership, effective communication, and team management skills;
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Interest in addressing business and accounting issues;
• Ability to make decisions, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines;
• Ability to drive process improvements.
