Ops Manager, Software Development – ShareGate

Job Description 

We are seeking an experienced Ops Manager to lead our ShareGate operations team, who will play a critical role in supporting the growth and scalability of the ShareGate ecosystem. As our company expands its product offerings and infrastructure, we are looking for a dynamic leader with a customer-focused mindset who can drive efficiency, reduce toil, and ensure compliance with industry standards, such as SOC2. 

So, what will your new role look like?   

As the manager of our Operations team, your role is to oversee the intricate workings of our ShareGate infrastructure. Working closely with the Director of Software Development, the Director of Technology, and the SRE Manager, you will be instrumental in shaping the future direction of our operations. Ensuring that our systems are not only secured, robust, and scalable but also contribute significantly to enhancing the overall customer experience 

A typical week?   

• Ensure that the team's efforts directly support the company's overall objectives and establish processes and decision-making models that consistently align with the organization's strategic goals.  
• Ensure team skillsets, processes, activities, tooling, and rituals are optimized to drive operational efficiency and performance.   
• Set clear expectations with team members and align them to the broader organization's goals.   
• Coach team members to overcome technical challenges they may face.  
• Ensure smooth system operation by monitoring performance and implementing proactive measures to prevent downtime. 
• Lead the team in monitoring high-maintenance systems, intervening manually when needed to resolve issues or improve performance. 
• Lead initiatives to automate pipelines, development scripts, and general automation processes, aiming to reduce manual toil. 
• Lead cloud infrastructure setup, configuration, and migration initiatives, ensuring robust and scalable infrastructure to support business operations.
• Participate in incident response activities. 
• Manage third-party service operations and administration, coordinating with external vendors.

As the Operations Manager at ShareGate, envision a future that is both challenging and rich with opportunities for growth. Leading a team of Cloud Engineers and Software Developers, you will work closely with members of the SRE team and IDP team, as well as other adjacent development teams. 
 
What are the next challenges awaiting your team? 

• Consolidating multiple small independent infrastructures into a unified system. 
• Developing an Admin console to enable customer support teams to resolve issues independently from development teams. 
• Managing Staging and Production environments, including tasks such as backups, disaster recovery, and system upgrades
   

Qualifications 

• Proven 4 years' experience in managing Ops teams, preferably in a cloud environment. 
• In-depth knowledge of DevOps practices and tools, such as Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and release engineering, is essential 
• Proficient in toil reduction strategies, adept at eliminating repetitive tasks and simplifying operational complexities. 
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
