Position Summary

A key initiative within the Customer Intelligence team is to better understand how customers use and find value in the product so we can better tell our customer stories and help other organizations maximize their use of the platform. Success is being able to use data to identify customer trends and create customer journey maps across various segments.

This role will be responsible for importing, transforming, validating or modeling data with the purpose of understanding or drawing conclusions from the data in order to build meaningful content and research.

Success means being able to work with and analyze data to build meaningful content and research. The ideal candidate demonstrates original and thoughtful insights who can tell a story based on data. This person is an endlessly curious, detail-oriented, and experienced data journalist who can gather, clean, analyze and help visualize data in spreadsheets and relational databases. The ability to report and tell stories is just as important as the ability to work with data.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an exceptional Customer Intelligence Data Journalist to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible to:

  • Work closely with our product and marketing teams to develop compelling data-driven and technical content

  • Distill data into useful insights and explain in simple to understand narratives that drive right to results

  • Own crafting these stories in the context of data, working with contributors, and run research efforts to write technical articles, and evangelize for Workato

  • Develop and implement datasets, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize operational efficiency and quality

  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain datasets/data systems

  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets

  • Create and maintain customer journey maps by region, industry, department, use case, and more

  • Filter and “clean” datasets by reviewing reports, analyses, and performance indicators to locate and identify thresholds for success

  • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs

  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities

Requirements

Qualifications / Experience / Technical Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in data science and data analysis

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communication, Political Science, Economics, Statistics, or related field

  • Excellent communicator and collaborator who can jump in and ask the right questions with a research-driven mindset to ultimately weave a compelling narrative

  • Strong experience designing and delivering business-oriented presentations

  • Knowledge of basic statistical methods

  • Expert in creating engaging and compelling stories from data

  • Critical Thinking: Strong data and analytics capabilities as indicated by an ability to “see the story” in the data

  • Storytelling Skills: A natural writing and storytelling skill
