As Engineering Manager, you are responsible for the platform team delivering the grand central product towards our customers and the effective operation of the value stream with regards to people- and team management, by providing leadership, mentorship and support where needed. 

It includes topics like collaboration, growth, engineering processes and productivity, while fostering an inclusive and high performance work environment. 

 

Meet the job

In this role, you are responsible for creating the conditions in which platform engineering teams comprised of system engineers and application engineers are set up for high performance and can maintain and deliver features that meet the high expectations of both our internal- and external customers, while ensuring that all essential non-functional requirements like security, performance, maintainability and reliability are taken into account.

On a day-to-day basis you work closely with the team as part of the value stream leadership team to manage team growth, performance and productivity and ensure the team works towards common goals.

 

You have strongly developed communication and leadership skills to inspire and motivate others around you. You easily navigate customers, partners and stakeholders across Backbase, from 1-to-1s with your team members to working directly with senior leadership.

Additionally, as a people manager you will be responsible for facilitating the growth of the engineers towards a well defined career path. 

About you:

  • At least 5 years of experience in leadership roles in System Engineering, IT Ops, DevOps or SRE.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and managing engineering teams in a technology or software development environment.
  • You bring energy and enthusiasm to your teams. You look at each challenge constructively and use it as an opportunity to learn and improve. 
  • You are comfortable working in a high-performance environment where high compliance and security standards apply.
  • Strong understanding of agile software engineering principles, practices, patterns, and techniques.
  • Proven track record in operations, incident management, cross-team and value stream improvements, optimisations and delivery management.
  • Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure technologies.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with diversity and inclusion initiatives and best practices in the engineering field.
  • Strong analytical skills.
