The job in short 

Tax Compliance is crucial to Backbase rapid global scaling and its success. As a Group Tax Accountant, you are an important contributor within the Finance team. You will be responsible  for direct and indirect tax compliance processes of various international subsidiaries, managing all compliance taxation functions globally. 

You maintain the Backbase tax calendar globally, ensuring compliance with global & local taxation requirements, and oversee the accounting and reporting for the company’s current and deferred taxes, successfully consolidating the taxing jurisdictions where Backbase conducts business. You process tax payments, prepare reports on key metrics, and provide support to the accounting and financial teams when needed.

You will report to the Accounting Operations Manager and work closely with the Tax Director, External tax advisors and consultants, Accounting (AP,AR,GL) and Business controlling teams.

Meet the job

  • Managing the end-to-end direct and  indirect tax compliance process including submission of tax return.
  • Manage the VAT, GST, WHT, CIT and other tax accounts reconciliations.
  • Assist and advise internally on VAT,GST, WHT and other tax related queries.
  • Support statutory and tax audits  and ensuring tax compliance of all VAT, GST, WHT, CIT and related transactions.
  • Provide tax and operational efficiencies in respect to Corporate tax, R&D and indirect taxes.
  • Maintain the global tax calendar, ensuring compliance with global & local taxation and regulatory requirements, collaborating with the Finance department and external tax advisors.
  • Oversees all accounting and reporting for the company’s current and deferred taxes, consolidating jurisdictions where Backbase conducts business.
  • Prepare reconciliations, processes tax payments and monitor timely filings.
  • Support Finance with general ledger monthly accruals, semi- annual and annual disclosure requirements.
  • Create clear, concise management reports summarizing key performance metrics/ insights.

How about you

  • 5+ years of experience with a large multinational corporation (preferably, in a SaaS environment) and/or a reputable international Tax Firm; 
  • Good experience of Dutch corporate income tax, VAT, international taxes including WHT
  • Good understanding of the Dutch GAAP and IFRS is a plus; 
  • Good written and spoken communication skills in English.
  • You keep the overview and set the right priorities.
  • You are curious and result driven.
